what is mezclao
MEZCLAO means mixed, diverse, and eclectic.
Rooted in Salsa Caleña and Cuban Casino, MEZCLAO is an approach to movement that welcomes all ways of moving. It draws inspiration from a wide range of Latin American dance traditions, including Colombian Cumbia, Guaguancó, Mambo, Cuban Conga, Argentinian Tango, and more. It also incorporates principles from Contemporary Dance and Contact Improvisation.
Like the salsa of the streets, MEZCLAO invites participants to bring their own flavour, rhythm, and personality to the dance floor. No one moves like you, and your uniqueness is celebrated.
MEZCLAO is also a language — a way of communicating through movement. By cultivating a beginner’s mind and listening deeply to one another, dancers discover that every connection is unique and the dance is created in the moment.
